Connect to a Shared Drive or Network Folder | IT@UMN | The Connect to a Shared Drive or Network Folder Connecting to (a.k.a. mapping) network drives allows University members to access files stored on University servers. Storing files on network drives provides a user more storage space, backups of their files, and secure ways of sharing files between departments.
Issue the net use command from a Windows command prompt for the shared drive you are trying to access. Example: net use z: \klhbackpack; Double-click on Network Neighborhood or My Network Places. Determine if all network resources and PCs are shown. Verify that the PC running the VPN Client gets the correct WINS and DNS information:
